Congress has failed America's crime victims by failing to send to the States for ratification an amendment to the US Constitution that will once and for all establish rights for crime victims as the birthright of every American. This proposal supported by Senator Jon Kyl and Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein has been ignored by the Democrat leadership in the House and every law-abiding American is worse off as a result.
Today, criminals and those accused of crimes have 23 rights in the U. S. Constitution, most secured by amendments...but the victim has none. This gross imbalance in our justice system creates grave injustice to crime victims. Every day in courtrooms all across our country cases are heard without notice to the victim...and even when they do get notice they are often excluded from proceedings and their voices are silenced when they seek to speak. The only way to end this injustice for all Americans is to give victims' rights a place in our fundamental law. The Democrats' leaders in Congress have ignored America’s crime victims. In Congress, I will fight hard for victims' rights; the rights that have been ignored for too long.
